All About Henna: Insights & Care
What is Henna?
Henna, or mehndi, is a natural plant-based dye derived from Lawsonia inermis. It has been used for centuries across South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa to create beautiful, temporary body art. When applied, it leaves a reddish-brown stain that naturally fades over 1–3 weeks.
Ingredients
Our henna paste is 100% natural and handmade using:
- Rajasthani Henna Powder: High-quality powder for deep, long-lasting color.
- Sugar: Helps the paste stick to skin for a smooth application.
- Water: Hydrates the powder to create a spreadable paste.
- Essential Oils (Eucalyptus/Lavender): Enhance color release and provide a soothing aroma.
No chemicals, dyes, or preservatives—just pure, natural goodness for a rich stain and gentle experience.
Before Care
- Shave or wax 24–48 hours before: Gives your skin time to calm and ensures smooth application.
- Avoid lotions, oils, and creams: These can create a barrier and prevent the henna from staining well.
- Wear loose clothing: Allows easy access to the area being decorated and prevents smudging.
- Stay hydrated and relaxed: Hydration improves skin health, and being calm helps with stillness during application.
After Care
- Keep Time: Leave henna on for 4–6 hours minimum, or overnight for the darkest results. Avoid covering with cling wrap or gloves; use a breathable towel or cloth.
- To Remove: Gently apply oil and scrape off dried paste. Avoid water for the first 12–24 hours to let the stain develop fully.
- Deep Stain Tip: Roast 10–20 cloves on a pan and let the smoke touch your henna, or apply a thin layer of Vicks after removing the paste to intensify the color.
Stain Progress, Duration & Safety
- Henna starts as an orange stain and darkens over 24–48 hours.
- Design lasts 7–14 days, with hands and feet generally lasting the longest.
- We use 100% natural henna and never use black henna, which may contain harmful chemicals.
- If you have allergies or sensitive skin, please inform us beforehand.
